Reviews – Holiday Secrets by Susan Sleeman; A Dangerous Legacy by Elizabeth Camden

Blurb: DEADLY HOLIDAY REUNION

When his ex is thrust into the crosshairs of a deadly syndicate, FBI agent Gavin McKade will do whatever it takes to protect her. Even work the case with his stubborn sheriff dad. Gavin’s holiday homecoming isn’t exactly warm and fuzzy, but he must set aside the past to make sure Lexie Grant survives. As if protecting Lexie from professional killers isn’t difficult enough, the unlikely reunion has rekindled their complicated romantic connection. But if Gavin can’t untangle Lexie from this dangerous web, the blurring line between duty and love may not matter…because this Christmas could be their last.

Review: I’m a big Susan Sleeman fan. I just love her writing style. Add in hunky cowboys, who work as law enforcement, and I’m hooked. Holiday Secrets didn’t disappoint. I shed a few tears, but I also laughed. The sad parts didn’t last long, and the happy sections kept me smiling for pages. Moody Adam made it seem exceptionally real (from a mom of occasionally moody teens). The end was surprising, as it should be.

Blurb: Lucy is determined to keep working as a telegraph operator at a news agency, even though the arrival of Sir Colin Beckwith threatens her position. When she discovers Colin’s shocking secret, she agrees to assist him if he helps her find her family’s stolen inheritance–not realizing that the trail leads into a web of treachery, danger, and conspiracy.

Review: This story had a fair amount of intrigue, lots of angst, and a happily-ever-after. I enjoyed it immensely. It’s also a story of overcoming obstacles and forgiveness.
