This month I wanted something bright and cheery in my bujo, so I hit Pinterest. My design was based off a picture by SandraRede. Here’s the original:
She did some neat multi-colored effects with watercolor, but I don’t have that kind of patience or talent (yet), and I used watercolor pencils.
As I’ve mentioned before LISTEN is my word of the year, and to remind myself to keep listening, I am trying to remember to make a verse with the word in it my “quote” of the month. This month it is Proverbs 8:33, “Listen to instruction and be wise; Don’t ignore it.” A good reminder for me. 🙂
So here’s my cover page. I don’t like the silver washi tape that I used to “frame” my picture. I hoped it would enhance the picture, but it’s too bold. I have some old embossing powder which I decided to use for the APRIL down the side. My letters are a little wonky, but I like the overall effect, which you can’t really see in the picture, but it sparkles. 🙂
The next set of pages is my calendar. I went a little smaller this month with the square size(6×6 dot spaces instead of 8×8), and I don’t care for it. I used blue, purple, and yellow markers for accent colors. Simple.
BTW, I think I forgot to mention that I use a B5 size dotted notebook. I tried A5 in 2021, but found it to be too small, and since my journal stays home, I’m happy to use the larger size.
The next pages are below.
Words written (of which I have none up to this point in the month) and books read. I have read a number of books, but I haven’t gotten around to writing them in my journal yet. I made a GLARING mistake and since it was on yellow marker, I couldn’t fix it easily. If only I could write that many books PER MONTH. 😮 So, I marked through it and went on. Sometimes, you just have to. 🙂
And then I have my first weekly. To be honest, I’m not sure why I made one for the first week in April. We went on a cruise. I didn’t take my journal. I pretty much KNEW nothing would get added to this page. BUT, I haven’t done any others, including this week’s 😮 , so ….
These next pictures are of my process in creating the two zen tangles. The first is the picture that went on my cover page. The second is about halfway through the coloring/painting process for the extra pieces. I cut the finished work (pic 3) into little sections to fit on the various other pages (see pics above). What I hadn’t added yet was black outlines. I hadn’t decided when I took the pics if I wanted to do it, but I did decide to take a simple black ballpoint pen and go around each shape to give it more definition. If you look at pic 1 below and then scroll back up to my cover page, the difference is obvious.
I hope you enjoyed my April bujo–out of sync.
And now a real life tip: Don’t listen to marriage advice from unmarried people, and don’t listen to parenting advice from people with no children. Both marriage and parenting is hard and can’t be advised upon properly without experience.
Because of the way the world is … a blessing. “The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.” (Num 6:24-26, ESV)
1- I love those illustrations.
2- As for your tip…amen!
Thanks, Kendra. You are such an encouragement to me. I appreciate you. <3
