Monday Musings – Be Exalted

Last Sunday, we sang this in church, and I have been singing the bridge all week.

To the One who overcame
To the One who made a way
To the One seated high
Be glory unending

I hope you’ll listen to the whole song as I think it’s really powerful, but I want to focus on these words for just a few minutes.

Dictionary.com says this about overcome/overcame:

1.to get the better of in a struggle or conflict; conquer; defeat: to overcome the enemy.
2.to prevail over (opposition, a debility, temptations, etc.); surmount: to overcome one’s weaknesses.
3.to overpower or overwhelm in body or mind, as does liquor, a drug, exertion, or emotion: I wasovercome with grief.
4.Archaic. to overspread or overrun.verb (used without object), o·ver·came, o·ver·come, o·ver·com·ing.
5.to gain the victory; win; conquer: a plan to overcome by any means
possible.

I like #5 best. To gain the victory. He gained the victory over sin and death on our behalf.

To the One who made a way.

He is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE (John 14:6). He made a way for us to be reconciled to the Father.

To the One seated high.

When important people come to speak, or just to watch an event, they are usually seated higher than others–either on a platform or stage, or in a balcony. A king is seated on a throne. Our King is also seated on a throne, at the right hand of God in heaven. He sits in his rightful place, interceding for us. I’m so thankful.

Be glory unending.

Revelation 5:13, “And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying: ‘Blessing and honor and glory and power Be to Him who sits on the throne, And to the Lamb, forever and ever!‘” [emphasis mine]

And if we don’t express His unending glory, all of creation will do it for us.
Sing his praises today, whether you can carry a tune or not. God hears the song of your heart, and it’s all good to Him.

Blessings,
