March 2023 Ramblings + RLT

Have you ever done something and you’re not sure it’s the right thing?

Most of you know I have seven children. I share they’re pictures here occasionally. I’m proud of all of them, but I have had my doubts about how well I did in raising them, especially my girls.

Did I teach them the right amount of independence and self-reliance without them being over-the-top controlling? Are there men out there who are strong enough, godly enough, and loving enough for my girls? Did I teach them self-respect? Love them enough? And the questions go on and on. I mean, I have questions about my sons too, but boys are different, ya know?

Well, my youngest daughter found her match. He’s strong, loving, and godly. And he’s now her husband. 😀 We love him, and we think he’s perfect for her, and according to his friends–the ones that gave speeches at the rehearsal dinner–she’s perfect for him.

So now, I’m going to bombard you with some pics from the wedding. These are preliminary pics, and I’m boosting them from my daughter’s FB account, so I apologize if the images are not wonderful.

And I’ll end with my favorite pic of them …

It was a gorgeous wedding. My daughter planned it all herself with little help from me. I offered but she wanted to do it her way, so I let her. And she did an EXCELLENT job with everything.

So, to answer my own questions … yes, I did a good job. I raised her to be independent and self-reliant, but she also has a hugely loving heart. She loves helping others. She loves her man, and they will make a great team. I’m so proud of her.

I’m proud of all my kids, even when I don’t agree with all of their choices.

I was not a perfect mom. I made a LOT of mistakes, but now that all of them are adults, I can sit back and watch them live wonderful, productive lives. I can bask in my accomplishments, pray about the mistakes I made and that they won’t hinder the future of my kids, but I also have to step back and let them make mistakes of their own–especially when I don’t want to see them hurting. But it’s how they’ll learn. And it is the way of things.

Real Life Tip: Do the best you can with the information, resources, and strength you have and trust God for the rest.

Blessings,

Share
