Keeping Up & Update

Well, I had hoped to post at least once a week here. Obviously that hasn’t happened. My last post was a month ago.

I’m distracted. So many things pulling me this way and that.

We’re doing some much needed repair work on our house.

Things that weren’t “important” that we’d eventually do.  First we had the inside (mostly the ceiling and the two-story stairwell) painted, and the outside rotting wood and broken hardy-board repaired and then everything repainted. We went from the yellow house on the corner to the gray house on the corner.

It’s a bit more gray and dreary today than it was back then. The bushes have matured. I took out the Crepe Myrtle that had been planted so close to the house. We still have that bald spot in the grass. LOL Nothing grows there. 🙁

We also had a company come in to do some work in the crawl space. Too much water sitting under there was causing mold to grow.

And now, we are working to repair our shower. Thankfully, insurance is helping with that expense, since it’s a necessity due to a leak in our drip pan (I think that’s the right thing). The whole shower is tile, so it’s a big job, and we may be without a shower (in our room) for a couple of weeks.

And this happened this weekend …

It’s are kind of hard to see, but the picture on the left is a full-size pencil drawing of a tree. The one on the right is a closer version of the same tree. My oldest daughter drew it for me, and, once I get some black paint, will paint it. The piece of paper is the basic idea for her to go by.

Once all of that is done, I will print 5×7 pictures of my kids (and their respective spouses) and put them in black frames to hang on our “family tree.”

So life is a bit hectic here.

Deborah (daughter #2, child #5) left for Peru this past Friday with a group from her school/church for a missions trip. Pray for her. She did text once and say that she made it safely. 😉 She’ll only be gone a week, but it happens to be over her birthday, which made us both a little sad.

As for my writing, little is happening or so it seems from my perspective. I find myself doing a little of this and a little of that, none of which is writing related. I’m frustrated with myself and my total inability to sit and do what I love, telling stories. Maybe it was the latest story I finished (I have so many unfinished 🙁 ). It was a hard story to write, and it has become an equally hard story to prepare for publication. But I’m going to do it because I feel the time is now to do so.

I say all that to explain why I haven’t written in the last month–not to mention that I went on a cruise for my birthday. 🙂 But really, none of it is a viable excuse. I just haven’t had much to say. And for a writer, that’s disheartening. A bit.

So, there’s my life in a tiny nutshell. I’m human. Like my last post stated, I struggle. A lot at times. But I keep on keepin’ on. As my momma used to say, “Pull on your big-girl panties and get on with it.” Or something like that. 🙂

What’s life like where you are? How can I pray for you?

Blessings,
