“Don’t be afraid, Mary,” the angel told her, “for you have found favor with God! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David. And he will reign over Israel[fn] forever; his Kingdom will never end!”
Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”
The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:30-35, NLT
All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished, but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often. Luke 2:18-19, NLT
I love the song Mary, Did You Know? And maybe she didn’t know it all, but she knew a lot. She had to have. What mother doesn’t expect her son to be disobedient or sinful? None. Yet, Jesus did not sin (1 Peter 2:22). So, I guess the better question is, How much did Mary know?
Something to ponder.
Merry Christmas,
That song makes me cry every time!
Yep.
My favorite!
