Taking Steps to a Good Year

Here it is January 8th already. A week into the new year. It’s been a fairly good week, except I’ve been sick with the flu or something(Covid test was negative). I slept a lot and did not do much of anything.

This week, I feel better. Thankfully.

I have intentions this year vs goals or resolutions. It feels more natural.

The quote, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions” comes to mind. HAHA

Still… it’s what I’m calling the things I want to accomplish this year. I need to sit down and get my act together for a plan to do them, but, hey, I thought of them. 😀

So for 2025, I wrote out 25 intentions:

  1. write three days a week
  2. publish a book or alternatively, quit. The quote by Yoda (Star Wars) comes to mind. “Do or do not. There is no try.” BUT, last night the Lord gave me direction for a book already in progress, so … I’m excited.
  3. format two books for print
  4. exercise 2-3 times per week, mostly this will be walking, either in my office or around my neighborhood. My ultimate goal is to be able to walk 3-4 miles comfortably.
  5. no soda. For me it’s an addiction. I need to not drink it at all.
  6. lose weight. I’m not putting a number to this as I don’t want to make eating or not eating a god in my life, which I have done in the past.
  7. drink more water — quitting the soda will help with this 🙂
  8. read three nonfiction books — I struggle with this, but I have books I WANT to read.
  9. read 150 fiction books — in 2024 I read somewhere around 175
  10. take a few online classes — these will be mostly art related as that is my passion at the moment
  11. write in my bullet journal daily — still working on getting it set up, so this one hasn’t happened yet
  12. have my quiet time first before TV or reading or anything else
  13. blog weekly — even if it’s late
  14. read five books from my physical TBR pile
  15. complete four puzzles — I love puzzles and I find them relaxing
  16. do one mandala — my daughter gave me a kit last year(2023) for Christmas, but I didn’t do anything with it because I was afraid of messing it up.
  17. plan a menu weekly — I hate cooking and I have often tried menu planning, but I wind up “not feeling like” whatever I planned and skip it.
  18. join dream team — this is our church’s term for people who volunteer, greeters, ushers, etc
  19. redo flower bed
  20. replace flooring in office — it’s currently carpet and I want LVP
  21. paint something once a week
  22. do a meal with each of my kids, one on one
  23. get a tattoo
  24. fix hair and makeup three times a week — I already get dressed daily, no jammies here, but some days I forget to brush my hair, so …
  25. hang curtains in my office

Some of these are simple and can be done in a short time, but others take planning and intentionality. Some won’t happen, and I’m okay with that. I have to rely on others for some of these, and that takes even more planning. Some take money. haha

So, do you have intentions, goals, resolutions for 2025? Share one (or more) in the comments. 😀

Many blessings on a WONDERFUL 2025,

Share

  1. I get to be a greeter at my church. I started years ago and never stopped. I love it. Psalm 84:10 Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.
