Steadfast – my 2021 Word of the Year

It’s been a few months since I’ve been here. Not much has changed in my life, so I won’t bore you with details. 🙂

This new year brings new resolve for me in a few arenas of my life. I will not call them resolutions but rather aspirations or goals.

These include:

  • lose xx lbs (for me to know and you to see)
  • walk 10k steps at least 3 times/week
  • publish two books (finish two already in progress)
  • get all of my previously published books in print
  • read two nonfiction books (non-writing related)
  • read two writing craft books
  • read 125 fiction books (a low number for me, so easily doable)

AND most relevant to you, reimplement this blog by posting at least once per week. Said post will most likely be on Monday, but I’m not holding myself to that, so I ask that you not either. I anticipate most of them being either life updates or devotions.

As the title reveals, my “word” for 2021 is steadfast. The accompanying verse is Proverbs 4:26(NIV), “Give careful thought to the paths for your fee and be steadfast in all your ways.”

According to dictionary.com, steadfast means to be fixed in direction, unwavering, firmly established. I want … no, need … that in my life.

I want to have my eyes fixed on Jesus.

I want to have unwavering faith.

I want to be firmly established in my beliefs.

So that when the storms and trials of life bombard me, and they will, I am ready.

Do you have a verse or word for 2021? If so, what is it? How do you see your life changing or rearranging because of it?

And finally, a couple of verses from my morning devotions. I had heard both groups of verses but did not realize they were subsequent verses.

Isaiah 55:10-12

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,

“So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

“For you shall go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and the hills before you
shall break forth into singing,
and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

Many blessings,

Ginger

PS. I just changed the look of my website today. What do you think?

  1. To “go out with joy” is my goal. It is so easy to fall victim to the fear encompassing our world right now. Not happiness…joy. I want that woman of God that joy just spills from her presence.

  2. That’s awesome, Kendra. Joy is definitely something to strive for in 2021. Blessings as your cup (of joy) overflows.
