Blind Betrayal, Rodeo Standoff, More Than Meets the Eye

Rodeo Standoff (McKade Law #2)

Blurb: The rodeo arena is always treacherous. Now it’s deadly…

It’s no accident Deputy Tessa McKade is trapped with an angry bull ready to trample her to death. She quickly realizes that McKade Law is no longer enough to keep her safe—and it’s her rescuer, Braden Hayes, who stands in as her bodyguard. As they seek to stop a would-be killer, Braden will have to use all his professional skills to guard Tessa’s life.

Review: I love a good cowboy story. This one even has a cowgirl. And not only that, but they’re police officers, too. And the story lives up to the expectations of them being both. Susan Sleeman knocks it out of the park…or the arena…with the second book in the McKade Law Series.

Blind Betrayal (Defenders of Justice #3)

Blurb: U.S. Marshal Casey Quinn is tasked with escorting a reporter to testify before a grand jury regarding a missing environmentalist. At first, the assignment seems routine. But when it becomes dangerously clear that there’s more to the story than anyone knows, Casey and two other marshals–one a man from her past–will have to do whatever it takes to survive.

Review: It took me a few chapters to be pulled into this story, but once I was…it didn’t let go. The suspense and danger kept me on the edge of my seat. I also enjoyed the tension between Casey and E.J. All in all, I loved reading it.

More Than Meets the Eye

Blurb: Seeking justice against the man who destroyed his family, Logan Fowler arrives in Pecan Gap, Texas, to confront the person responsible. But his quest is derailed when, instead of a hardened criminal, he finds an ordinary man with a sister named Evangeline–an unusual beauty with mismatched eyes and a sweet spirit that he finds utterly captivating.

Review: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. I feel like I say that every time I read and review a Karen Witemeyer novel, and maybe I do, but it’s always true. Evangeline is spunky and defiant and loving and kind, and she loves with all of her heart. It took me a little longer to fall in love with Logan, but he was a wonderful hero, even from the beginning. As usual, I can’t wait for the next story that floods from this author’s fingers.
