What do you like to read?

I love reading under the umbrella of Christian fiction whether that’s in historical, contemporary, or suspense genre. As long as it has romance woven into it, I’ll read it. Some of my favorite authors at the moment are Ronie Kendig, Lynette Eason, Dani Pettrey, Becky Wade, Sarah Monzon, Vanessa Riley, Piper Huguley, Jennifer Rodewald, etc. I’ll make myself stop now.

A woman after my own heart. Clean romance involved? I’m in. What was the most surprising thing you learned about yourself as you wrote this book?

One of the things I learned was that I could write a first draft faster than I realized. It helped me work on time management and plan on future novels more. I also wrote Grace Restored over two years ago so going back to edit it and make sure it was ready taught me how much my writing has grown in the process.

What was the best money you ever spent as a writer?

Purchasing The Emotional Thesaurus was the best money I ever spent. I use it often when writing. Plus, I get to support another writer in the process.

Hmm… I’ve heard of that one, but haven’t looked into it. I think I might need to. How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?

Oy. Too many, lol. Unpublished wise I have 2 finished, unpubbed manuscripts. Half-finished…I have seven. I had to go count them. 🙂 I am currently working on one of the seven.

I probably have that many as well. I move from one to another when I have writer’s block. What does literary success look like to you?

When I get an email or see a review that lets me know the story resonated with the reader, that’s success to me. To see they were able to read my intent behind the stories and characters is gold.

I agree. It’s beyond the money; it’s the eternal value. Tell us about your latest book.

Grace Restored is book two in my Freedom Lake series, set in the fictional town of Freedom Lake, Indiana. It’s one I have independently published and was the second full-length book I wrote. It’s also my favorite book I’ve written to date. There is just something about the struggles Guy and Michelle go through that touched my heart. Guy is a widower and has returned to live in Freedom Lake to raise his twin girls. Michelle, his high school flame, was orphaned at eighteen, losing her parents to a drunk driver. She’s made her career as an attorney set on seeing every drunk driver receives maximum punishment. They have a lot of hurt and anger to work through and I enjoyed seeing God’s love and grace restore them to the fold.

More about Grace Restored:

Michelle Thomas has it all. Beautiful and successful, she’s just opened her own law firm in Freedom Lake. What more could she want? When her old flame rolls back into Freedom Lake, she’s intent on ignoring him. But how can she give the widower and his precious twin girls the cold shoulder?

Still reeling from the death of his wife, Guy Pierre returns to Freedom Lake to take over as town sheriff and raise his twin daughters. Alone. Yet, life keeps throwing Michelle in his path and sparks of interest began to rise.

Will old secrets tear them apart again or can they find the faith to let God’s grace restore what has been broken?
